Good Knight Entertainment provides mobile DJ entertainment and MC services in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, and Delaware for weddings, Mitzvahs, parties, corporate functions, and just about any other type of function you can think of that will require musical entertainment.
It is highly recommended that you read this entire section so that you may determine the services you may not be getting from the DJ company you are considering besides Good Knight Entertainment.
Many DJ companies will promise you the world for just pennies and they are doing this because they do not run their DJ service as a business and they don't have a plan. They are not running their DJ service as a business because they don't maintain a legal music library, they use inferior equipment, they don't have a contract with you to hold them accountable, and many use inexperienced DJs. They don't have a plan because they simply show up and wing it without even asking you what you want.
The music library is an important factor. Many DJ services that are not running their service as a business use a sharing service like Limewire to obtain their music. Not only is this against the law but it also brings in many quality issues in regard to the music they download; most don't listen to the music they download and can get songs that cut off, are distorted, and so on. While it may not make any difference to you where the DJ obtains his/her music, what will you do if the DJ service you have chosen is shut down because their music library is not legal?
The contract is important because it keeps your DJ service accountable for their actions and gives you the legal rights to get your money back if they fail to meet that contract. If you talk to a DJ service that says that they do not provide a contract our advice is to hang up and move on.
Good Knight Entertainment has a plan. Below are the activities we guarantee we will perform; they are in our contract. Every DJ service should be doing these and if they say they are, make them put it in their contract like we do.

Pre-Event Activities – All of these happen before your event even starts. |

Interview Our interview process has two steps. The first step is to meet the owner of Good Knight Entertainment. During this interview you will be asked several questions to help determine your vision for your event and to help us determine if we can help you fulfil that vision. We will then cover some general information about the company. Part of the interview process is our Entertainer Comparison Chart, a tool that we give to you that you can use to compare us to other DJ companies you may wish to interview. The interview can either occur anyplace; a local coffee house or restaurant, your house, it does not matter.

This interview itself usually takes an hour. Including travel to and from the venue it will be a total of three hours or more. |

Site Visit This is a visit to your venue to talk to the venue staff and get the general layout of their plans for your event. While it is not necessary, we would like to include you in this to be able to get any special visions you may have for the venue for your event. The site visit is always part of Good Knight Entertainment’s service. It does not matter if we have performed at the venue many times over the years because your event is unique. |
This visit itself usually takes an hour. Including travel to and from the venue it will be a total of three hours or more. |

On-Line Planning System This is a system that allows you to do your entire event planning. For weddings you can put in your bridal party list, selection of special songs, requests for dance time, dedications, a Do Not Play List, a Must Play List, and you can even define the agenda for the day. For Mitzvahs you can put in your candle lighting order, introduction order, selection of special songs, dedications, requests for dance time, a Do Not Play List, a Must Play List, and you can even define the agenda for the day. For parties you list any introductions you want made, selection of special songs, dedications, requests for dance time, a Do Not Play List, a Must Play List, and you can even define the agenda for the day. For all of these events you can utilize our Guest request System through which your guests can pre-request music they wish to hear. You always have control of this and can remove any song you do not wish played or move it to your Do Not Play List. |
You have up to thirty days before your event to complete this information. It will be used to build the information brought to the finalization. |

Consultations We are always available to talk to you. If you have questions, need ideas for songs, or if there is anything else you wish to discuss with us about your event then you should feel free to give us a call. If there is something you wish to discuss with us face-to-face, we can always set up an appointment to meet with you. |
Over the course of the planning of an event there may be several consultations. The overall time committed for this is two hours or more if travel is needed. |

Pre-Finalization Develop Music Program: We will look over the songs that have been submitted in your Must Play, Play If Possible, Do Not Play, and Guest Request lists. We will then begin developing our music program for your event. The order of priority will be 1: Must Play List, 2: Dedications, 3: Play If Possible List, and 4: Guest Requests. If there are songs, artists, or music genres on your Do Not Play List that also appear in the Must Play, Dedications, Play If Possible, or Guest Request lists, you will be consulted to find out how you want to handle this. We will develop an order of the songs based on their match to other songs in your lists; that is, our experience shows that certain songs fit well with others and we will use that experience. The songs in your must play list will always be in the musical program and dedications may be grouped into one dedication section. Songs not on any of your lists may also be included to enhance the fun factor. Agenda Development: All of the information we have regarding your event is incorporated into an agenda fro your event. If you have filled out the timeline in the on-line planning system it will serve as the basis for your event agenda. |

Finalization This can either be done by a phone call or in person. If you still need to pick any special songs it is highly encouraged that it be in person so that we can bring along some samples for you to listen to. If it is in person, it is best to meet in your home. The goal for the finalization is to make it just a verification meeting; that is, all of the details will be ready and we just verify that we are all on the same page. Prior to the finalization a check is done with your caterer to get the meal time. We encourage you to have all parties impacted by the agenda present at the finalization. If you have a coordinator they should be there. Once the finalization happens, the agenda is sent to all of your other vendors to ensure that they know what is happening. |

Event Set Up Load Up: This is the time allocated for loading the equipment necessary for the event from our base of operations into the vehicle.
Load In: This is the time allocated for unloading our equipment into the venue. Set Up: This is the time allocated for setting up our equipment into the venue. |
Load Up: 30 Minutes Travel: One hour or more. Load In: 30 Minutes Set Up: 90 Minutes Grand total: 3.5 Hours or more. |

Event Performance - Where the rubber meets the road. |

Event Performance This is where you and your guests will see us in action. This is where our duties as DJ/MC kick in. As your DJ we utilize the music program developed in the pre-finalization and our judgment and experience to add additional music to provide you and your guests with a mix that gives them the best dance experience possible. This mix is played through a state of the art sound system that allows your DJ to mix the music in an enjoyable and pleasing manner. As your MC we provide all introductions and ensure that each name is pronounced correctly; coordinate the flow of activities for your event; coordinate and communicate with all of the other vendors to ensure that we are all on the same page; and make any additional announcements as necessary. |
Our minimum time is four hours. |

Post-Event Activities - Your event might be over but we are not done. |

Event Close Out This includes the strike of our equipment, load out, travel back to our base of operations, and the unloading of the vehicle. |
Typically the strike and load out takes an hour and the unload takes 30 minutes. With travel this can be over 2.5 hours. |

So, when you see a DJ company boasting that they can perform all of this for just pennies, ask them to put their money where their mouth is and put it in their contract; it is in ours. If they refuse to do that then maybe they are not the DJ service you need.
As you can see from the above, we put in at least ten and a half hours ensuring you get what you want before your guests even see us. What are the other companies doing for you? If you care about the quality you should be getting, you should ask.

We will never perform an activity that has not been approved by you and we will never play any song that is on your do not play list. We also do not force costumes, props, or cheesy and overplayed songs on our clients; however, since the object is a fun-filled experience for you and your guests, if you want props you may visit our on-line party store to purchase them or if you do want the songs that may be classified as cheesy and overplayed just let us know and they will be in your music program.
